Sending posts to Moderation

Hello Moderators!

Someone is sending so much posts to moderation that shouldnt be there. I dont know why so many "normal and good posts" are being sent to moderation.

Please , before commence sending posts to moderation, read the moderators Guide!

Thanks and Bye!

What's probably happening is new moderators are reading the "reasons for getting a post rejected" section of the FAQ. It pretty much says to reject every Help Room Q. It was written before we had a HelpRoom to move those Q's into.

Moving someting into the moderation queue is a decent way to reject/delete a post, especially for Mods just above 1K points. In theory, you go back and reject. Or you leave it for someone else to review. I think even one old-time moderator prefers "send to moderation", tends to be somewhat harsh, and often does a bunch at a time.

Then, finally, there's been a bug for years where some Q's go straight to moderation even though they aren't supposed to anymore. It might be related to an anti-spam rule about posting within 45 seconds(?) of making an account. Or not.

I believe it's the case, see the thread here : https://answers.unity.com/questions/1601745/keto-supplies.html

Yeah, I'll be looking. I've also raised some of the minimums with our spam protections such as "Minimum account life before posting".

@Buhlaine
Posts of new users are directly sent to the moderation to prevent spammers from flooding Unity Answers

I think I found the exact problem. If you don't have an account, it allows you to ask and enter an entire question! Submit sends you to the page to create an account, instantly posting your Q, 0 seconds after your new account was made, which confuses the spam filter.

The Ask a Q button should be hidden if you aren't logged in (or it should immediately send you to "login/createAccount"). That will never happen, but wrong UX is the cause of the problem.

i can confirm that, befor the count of posts waiting for moderation was about 2-3 a day. after @Buhlaine adjusted the the filter, handling those spam posts, the amount of posts waiting for moderation increased to what it’s now, like 20-30 posts a day.
