new input debug saying gamepad UI actions disabled but keyboard UI actions enabled

I am wanting a dual system using the new input system whereby the player can switch between the keyboard/mouse and the gamepad at will. My input system is very inconsistent. In all but two scenes it works OK but in one of them, only the gamepad works, not the keyboard. In another, the gamepad works for the UI menu options but the keyboard doesn't. However, if I exit the UI, the gamepad stops and the keyboard now work. I have attatched the feedback from the input debug.alt text

I also get a player input debug message on the scenes where this is a problem:

the debugger is receiving input calls though.

Hi!

I managed to solve this. Each NPC had a player input on it (thinking the player would then engage when in the trigger area) and turns out that having more that one Player Input in the scene confuses Unity.
